Is this you? You're doing all the right things, taking your medication and following your treatment plan, but you still experience symptoms and even asthma attacks.
If your allergic asthma is uncontrolled, you may need additional therapy. Adding Xolair® inhaled steroids could help to:
Stopping Attacks Before They Begin
Xolair is a different type of medication than what you may be taking now for allergic asthma. It works by helping to block IgE (Immunoglobulin E). This substance occurs naturally in the body in small amounts, but the presence of allergic triggers can cause your body to produce too much IgE, provoking asthma symptoms and attacks.
Approved for moderate to severe persistent allergic asthma, Xolair is the only medicine that blocks IgE. On average, it blocks more than 96% of IgE related to allergic asthma. When added to inhaled steroids, Xolair can help stop an asthma attack before it starts.
Proven Effectiveness in Clinical Studies
Adding Xolair injections to an existing treatment program using inhaled steroids has been clinically proven to help reduce the number of asthma attacks a person experiences. In two clinical studies, Xolair helped reduce the number of asthma attacks in patients with moderate to severe allergic asthma who had asthma symptoms even though they were taking inhaled steroids. When the patients' inhaled steroid doses were lowered, those receiving Xolair still had fewer asthma attacks than those receiving placebo (an injection with no active medicine).
Xolair is an important allergic asthma option that may help you reach your treatment goals. It is a prescription injection given every two to four weeks. See your asthma specialist for an IgE test (a simple blood or skin test) and ask if Xolair is right for you.
Xolair may not be effective in all patients and has not been proven to work in allergic conditions other than allergic asthma. |
